Assuming Jezebel from Sidon influenced Ahab’s worship of Baal,31 Kings 16:31-33 Ahab’s method of child sacrifice could have followed this 4th Century BC4about 400 years after Elijah description from Sidon .

There stands in their midst a bronze statue of Kronos, its hands extended over a bronze brazier, the flames of which engulf the child. When the flames fall upon the body, the limbs contract and the open mouth seems almost to be laughing until the contracted body slips quietly into the brazier. Thus it is that the ‘grin’ is known as ‘sardonic laughter,’ since they die laughing. 5From Scholia to Plato’s Republic, I, 337A (ed. Bekker, vol. 9, p.68), translated from the Greek by Paul G. Mosca

In the 12th Century AD, the Torah commentator Rashi described a brass idol:

…they heated him from his lower parts; and his hands being stretched out, and made hot, they put the child between his hands, and it was burnt; when it vehemently cried out; but the priests beat a drum, that the father might not hear the voice of his son, and his heart might not be moved.6

What a terrible history of child sacrifice, and we’re still doing it.

There is nothing new under the sun. In the name of “Reproductive Freedom”, millions of American babies are sacrificed. The method may be different (and less public), but it is just as brutal.
